I don't understand the reviewers complaining about the lack of power. It's a 'personal fan' and I wouldn't want to sit in a wind tunnel that makes my eyes water and all my papers fly away, which speed two would if it were any more powerful. I keep it about two feet from me on the desk. Speed one gives me a gentle breeze with almost no noise and speed two makes my hair flutter a little and it's still quiet enough to be drowned out by the sound of the A/C. As for the switch I don't find it difficult and can flip it with one hand. I open the fan first, hold down the fan by putting a finger between the base and the fan and use my thumb to switch it on and off. The fan pivots left and right, which is nice, so you can adjust the direction without having to slide the entire fan around. It's stylish, finger-safe, and I got two for one on woot, so I'm very happy with the purchase.

I've tried a lot of small fans for my small bedside table and this one is the best. It has a very small footprint - a bit bigger than a large coffee mug. It is very easy to swivel side to side and up and down. On the low setting, it does not feel like a strong wind to the face - just enough breeze to cool me off at night. And it's so quiet, you can't hear it from more than a couple feet away (i.e., doesn't wake sleeping spouse.) One person commented about the control dial being difficult to manage: it isn't if you wrap your hand around the base and then use your thumb to push the dial back and forth.
This is the fan you want for those night-time hot flashes, ladies! And it's nice looking too.

I usually have it on Low, which is virtually noiseless. Even the High setting cannot be heard at the next desk. It provides a cooling breeze without disturbing any paper on my desk. My only complaint is that it is so lightweight, I can't use the controls one-handed, as the fan tends to move before the switch does. Will be putting it on a small mat, and I expect this to solve the problem.
This product has a small footprint (ideal for a crowded desk) and it stays in the position I want, instead of gradually pointing downward as my last fan did.

i typically keep my office door shut to be more productive during the day. door shut = stuffy, hot office. i needed a fan desperately. i tried two different fans i already had but they didn't work out - one was too beat up and ugly and the other was too big. they were both too loud.
i looked around, read some reviews and decided to order a vornado. it sounds like the brand has a good name, and the fan itself is really cool looking. i actually ordered the zippi fan (with the cloth arms), but received the flippi instead! i was a little distressed because i had read that the flippi wasn't a good product, made too much noise, etc. well, those reviews are WRONG. it is a great fan and i'm glad i got it instead.
i have the fan on low right now, about two feet away, and it is 100% silent and doing it's job. i feel a nice, cool breeze. i just turned it to high and it is not too loud for my office use (if you were in a cube it might be) and the air output is really incredible for such a small machine. my question to these other reviewers is how much air do you want blowing on you at one time and why is $25.00 an unreasonable price point for a fan?
it is a little awkward to turn on and off, and requires two hands. also, the on/off dial on the base is plastic and feels a little bit flimsy. this is why i'm giving it 4 stars. but who knows? it could last forever. we will just have to see.
honestly, for the cool factor of its design, the color choices and its performance, i don't think you can beat it. i would buy another one for sure.

Does it blow? Yes. It's a fan.
The low setting is a nice constant breeze when the fan is a couple feet from your face. It is also completely silent on low. If you've been working out or doing some kind of physical activity, the low setting isn't going to do anything for you. Or if your office/cube is really hot, low isn't going to cut it. When it's a little warm or you just want a little circulation, it's nice on low.
The high setting is nice when it's getting stuffy around the collar. It's not going to blow you away, but it's refreshing when you're getting warm. It does make some noise on high, but not so much that I need to speak louder or turn up my desk speakers. My laptop is louder when the fan kicks on high. The fan is a couple decibels quieter than the near-jet-engine sound of my wife's Mac Book Pro.
Overall, I'm happy with my purchase. The design is attractive and it's a solidly built product. It's a desk fan, so don't expect it to do anything for you if you're sitting it 10 feet away. Also, the switch is a bit awkward, like other reviewers have mentioned. I *can* turn it on with one hand, but it's not the easiest thing to do. But don't let the switch dissuade you from buying this product.
-1/2 star since it would be nice if there were 3 settings with the 3rd being higher than high for when you're sweaty.
-1/2 star for the awkward speed setting switch.
