perfect! October 2, 2002 85 out of 85 found this review helpful
I wasn't sure when I was looking at tubs, but I'm glad I got this one. I used the sling for the first 2 weeks to sponge bath my 5 pound preemie, and despite his size, I felt that he was very secure, he stayed put. For those a little nervous about bathing a baby at first, (like my hubby) the sling is adjustable, so you can loosen it add a little more water, and use it for a regular bath. The drain plug warns if the water is too hot, which again is good for the nervous new parent. Now 2 months old, I use the infant, slanted seat side, and it works well for us. the padding reduces slipping. I also like the space to hold clean rinse water or bath supplies. The only thing they may want to add is a hook to hang this to dry, which some have. Otherwise, it's perfect and cheap. Some may be attracted to a few tubs that are bigger, but I think the size is perfect. It's roomy enough but not so big that the baby can "escape", or to mane the baby feel insecure. It's also easier to store than those monster tubs, too.
Perfect newborn to infant tub... October 26, 2002 S. O'Brien (by the beach, CA United States) 77 out of 77 found this review helpful
We originally weren't going to buy a baby tub, thinking that we would be able to bathe our son in our kitchen sink. But we changed our minds when we saw this tub. Our son was 9lbs at birth (and yes, I had him all natural!), fitting perfectly into the mesh sling. I liked how the sling held him comfortably in the water without me or my husband having to hold onto his floppy body the whole time. Now that our son is 4 months old, we don't use the sling anymore. The reclining position seems to work just fine. He enjoys kicking his feet and flailing his arms to slpash the water. The sides of the tub are smooth so he doesn't hurt himself at all. The non-slip inserts keep him where he's supposed to be with a minimum of repositioning. The plug in the bottom makes it extremely easy to empty. Also, we will leave the plug open and let water from the tap run into the tub so that the water in the tub doesn't get too soapy for rinsing. There's a section at one end where you can put clean water, washclothes or whatever strikes your fancy. The tub also fits very securely over single or double sinks. While it's kind of big/bulky, this tub's many convenient features more than make up for its size. We can see using the tub for a long time.
Makes bath time happy time! March 18, 2004 DTK (Atlanta) 75 out of 76 found this review helpful
Here's a tub that makes both baby and parent feel secure at bath time.
We got this tub about two years ago for our son. We used it for about a year with him. Now we are using it again for our newborn daughter.
This tub has two outstanding features. First, the hammock holds a newborn or infant snugly. This makes the baby feel secure and gives you the ability to have a hand free. Thus, it's possible for one person to bathe the baby solo without worrying that the baby will fall into the water.
Second, because the hammock has adjustable straps, it can be raised or lowered. This allows you to have baby out of the water for a sponge bath prior during the first few weeks when they're not supposed to be submerged. Once their cord stub falls off, you can lower the hammock so that they are in the water as little or as much as you want.
As the baby grows, you remove the hammock. Baby can lie against the inclined side until he or she has the strength to sit up. Then, once sitting well, they can use the straight-backed side. Because the tub is small, it's easier to keep baby upright even when they haven't mastered sitting up. Also, another advantage over a bath seat that goes on the floor of the bathtub is that this little bath doesn't require so much water to fill, making bath time simpler and quicker.
Some reviewers have complained that the tub does not drain completely when you open the drain plug. This is absolutely true; however, I think the drain plug is merely intended to drain out the vast majority of the water -- which it does -- so that you can turn the tub over to rinse it and drain it completely. Without this drain feature, the filled tub would be incredibly heavy, making it nearly impossible to turn over to pour the water out (not to mention the mess you'd probably make trying to dump all that water down the sink!).
Tub of our Dreams! December 7, 2002 53 out of 53 found this review helpful
My 6 week old loves her tub time! The thing that first attracted me to this particular tub was the infant cradle/sling. It is a machine washable netting complete with headrest that extends the length of the tub. It is great for those beginning sponge baths and continues to be useful as your little one learns to completely control their head and neck. No more bathing with one hand as you try to keep the baby upright with the other hand. This tub also has an added safety feature, a drain that begins to turn white as the water gets hotter. This makes it so much easier to gage wether the temperature is too hot for your precious baby. There is also a spot on the front of the tub where you can sit baby bath, washcloths, etc. I am so happy with our decision. This is a wonderful tub and I would recommend it to anyone.
So far so good! August 23, 2002 24 out of 24 found this review helpful
I really like this tub so far. My son is only two weeks old so I haven't been able to submerge him completely in water. The little sling has worked well for his quick lil baths. I had a hard time picking out a tub. This one caught my eye because of its depth and versatility. I also like the drain plug and tempature guard. I don't believe any bathtub or sling should free your hands but this one does secure the baby so it's not so hard on you to keep them in place. I would suggest this product to any new parent. I would like to add this tub fits on your sink so you can bathe baby right over the kitchen sink. This helps keep you from bending over so much. pretty neat idea!
